Aubergine Seeds 'Pinstripe'
- Almost spine-free variety
- Compact plants
- Heavy crop of white-striped purple fruits
- Ideal for pots and greenhouse growing
Aubergine Pinstripe is a compact, practically spine-free variety producing a good crop of deep purple fruits liberally striped with white. With its attractive flowers and fruit, it’s ideal for a pot on a sunny patio, or in a greenhouse, cropping over a long period in summer and early autumn.
Sow indoors
February-May: Sow individually, in clean 9cm (3 1/2in) pots or module trays of firm, pre-watered compost and cover with 1cm (1/2in) of vermiculite or sieved compost. Place in warmth, 21-24°C (70-75°F) and keep moist at all times.
Plant out
May-June: Grow on at 16-18°C (60-65°) until late May-June. When established, plant into a patio pot 45cm (18in) in diameter, or a grow bag, and leave in a cold greenhouse or place in a sunny, sheltered position when the risk of frost has passed.
Tips
Feed regularly and water more frequently as a crop forms. Tie stems to a support if necessary.
